Industry employment detail
Monthly change in payroll employment (bars) and the trailing 3-month average (line) for every major industry, since 2023. The page follows the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ payroll classification — the major aggregates first, then goods-producing industries, the private service-providing sectors, and government — from broad supersectors down to every two-digit sector, with a few closely-watched breakouts. Software and IT jobs appear under their official industries: Computer systems design (within Professional & business services) and Software publishers (within Information).
