Real growth

Source: Bureau of Economic Analysis; author’s calculations. Growth and prices are percent change at an annual rate (1-quarter bars, 4-quarter line); contributions are percentage points of annualized real GDP growth, shown on one shared axis. Which NIPA table: growth rates are computed from the chained-dollar levels in Table 1.1.6 (BEA’s own published rates are Table 1.1.1); contributions come straight from Table 1.1.2; price changes are computed from the chain-type price indexes in Table 1.1.4 (BEA’s published rates are Table 1.1.7). Real national income is nominal national income deflated by the GDP price index; command-basis real GDP adjusts for the terms of trade.
